Arkansas Forestry sets 66th meeting

The 66th annual meeting of the Arkansas Forestry Association is scheduled Tuesday through Thursday, October 4-6, at the Wyndham Riverfront in North Little Rock.

Tuesday is for social and personal events, with main business sessions on Wednesday starting with a presentation on crop tree strategies by Dr. Lee Allen of North Carolina State University. John Pait of Cellfor will discuss varietal forestry, followed by Dr. Bruce Borders of the Warnell School of Forestry discussing additive impact on yield; Dr. Jeff Mayo, RMK Timberland Group, discussing intensive silviculture and improved genetics.

During the afternoon session, presenters include Dr. Donald Grosman, Texas Forest Service, on tip moth control; Dr. Randall Rousseau, Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service, on intensive hardwood management; Wayne Bell of International Forest Company on containerized seedlings; Shelby Johnson, Arkansas Geographic Information Office, on GIS tools for landowners.

An awards breakfast is scheduled Thursday. with adjournment at 11 a.m.
