Arson main cause of wildfires in SW Louisiana, LDAF reports

According to sources at the Louisiana Department of Forestry (LDAF), the main cause of wildfires in southwest Louisiana is forest arson. As more people live in rural areas, the exposure to wildfire increases. Rural residents now face the prospect of losing life and property. Fortunately, citizens can access a free service to protect their homes and other valuables.

The LDAF, Louisiana Forestry Association and Kotterman Timber Company have partnered together to help homeowners reduce the risk of structure loss during a wildfire. Homes in rural wooded areas are at a higher risk due to This partnership is offering mechanical fuel reduction to rural homeowners to use as a first step towards making their homes safe from wildfire. We will offer other information on a variety of things the homeowner can do that will enable them to maintain a safe home.
