Jackson Car Show names winners The Jackson Parish Classic & Antique Car Club's 15th annual car show, sponsored by Jay Mallard Ford, was held at Jay Mallard Ford-Lincoln-Mercury in Jonesboro on Saturday, April 16, 2011. Entrants came from as far as Monticello, Arkansas. Winners in the individual classes were as follows: ANTIQUE CARS - up to 1960 ANTIQUE CARS - 1961 and up ANTIQUE TRUCKS 55, 56, & 57 CHEVY'S - Original 55, 56, & 57 CHEVY'S - Modified MUSTANGS - 1964 - 1965 MUSTANGS - 1966 and up SPORTS CARS - 1956 - 1968 SPORTS CARS - 1972 - 1980 MUSCLE CARS - 1967 - 1968 MUSCLE CARS - 1969 - 1970 MUSCLE CARS - 1971 and up STREET CRUISER STREET ROD - up to 1932 STREET ROD - 1933 and up OPEN MODIFIED Area car clubs participating in the show included: Twin City Classic Chevy, Mid-South Regional Old Car Club, Custom Cruisers, Northeast Louisiana Street Rod Association, Ruston Car Club, Monroe Drag Team, NSRA, Lincoln Parish, APC, NSM, AACA, and Corvettes of NELA. On display for the spectators to view were some of the dirt\par }{\plain track race cars that race at the motor speedway in Chatham. Free tickets to the races and family passes were given out. We look forward to having these race cars back for viewing at our show next year. Another added attraction was a display of vintage tractors by the LaSalle Antique & Tractor Club of Jena. Spectators enjoyed viewing these restored vintage tractors. We appreciate the time and effort of these club members to come and show these tractors. A plaque from the car club was presented to Jay Mallard in appreciation of his support and sponsorship of the show this year. The "Jackson Parish Sheriff's Department Choice" plaque was presented to Ronnie Collie of Monroe for his 1938 Cadillac convertible. "Jonesboro Police Department Choice" plaque was presented to Jack Walsworth of Jonesboro for his 1971 Roadrunner. The "Hodge Police Department Choice" plaque was presented to Alton and Ronnie Spillers of Eros for their 1971 Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible. The trophy for the visiting car club with the most cars entered in the show went to the Mid-South Regional Old Car Club. The trophy for the car entered that traveled the greatest distance to the show was presented to Tom Weaver of Monticello, Arkansas. He traveled 150 miles to show his 1970 Ford Torino GT. The trophy for the oldest automobile entered in the show went to Butch Farmer of Downsville for his 1928 Ford Model A. The "Best of Show" trophy was presented to Butch Farmer of Downsville for his 1928 Ford Model A. Music from the early days of these classic and antique automobiles was played during the day by Disc Jockey Ronnie Causey. Throughout the day Ronnie Causey presented prizes to children and adults for correct answers to trivia questions. The winner of the split the pot raffle was Tim Norman of Quitman. Show proceeds will be donated to the Shriners Hospital for Children. The club appreciates the time and hard work put in by Michael Sharp, William Loflin, Johnny Kelly, Ken Adcock, Rickey McDow, Rodney Shows, and Don Stephens who served as judges for the show. There were a lot of outstanding automobiles and this made it really a tough show to judge. A special thanks to all the individuals and businesses that made donations for door prizes.
