features live demos of logging equipment The second Ark-La-Tex Logging Extravaganza will feature looks at the newest in logging equipment, plus a variety of other equipment and services, during its two-day run on a heavily wooded tract east of Natchitoches near the Red River. Active live demonstrations of cut-to-length processing will be made by Ponsse USA, with the Ponsse harvester, and by a Daewoo track machine with a Keto 800 processor shown by BWC Equipment of Haynesville. The demonstrations will be supported by Tigercat skidders from Patrick Miller Tractor Company of Many, Louisiana, which will also display other equipment. Prentice loader from Scott Equipment in Monroe will be featured in the loading skill contest, with professional loggers competing for cash prizes. Other equipment from Scott will also be shown. Scott operates dealerships in Monroe, Shreveport, Alexandria, and DeRidder, Louisiana. Nortrax South, the John Deere and Timberjack dealer will display, and run the professional skidder contest using Deere equipment. Nortrax has dealerships in Baton Rouge, Alexandria, Shreveport, and St. Rose. Exhibitors of various equipment and services include: Blanchard's Safety Training, Bermuda, LA In addition to the equipment displays and demonstrations, the Louisiana Logging Council will sponsor a log auction featuring bidding on up to ten loads of logs. A popular event also is the raffle to give away three Arctic Cat 4-wheel ATVs, plus a Ford F150 pickup truck. A limited number of tickets are available on each of the raffle items. For the truck, 500 tickets at $100 each area available. The truck, purchased from Marler Ford, is a brand new 2004 model F-150 XLT extended cab 4x2. Two Arctic Cat 650s have 1400 tickets at $10 each, and one Model 400 has 1000 tickets at $10 each. Tickets are available from members of the Logging Council, and will be available at the Extravaganza until drawing time. Drawings for the 4-wheelers will be on Friday and Saturday, and for the truck, on Saturday after the log auction. |
