Six new in Hall of Fame
induction September 17

Six new members of the Louisiana Loggers Hall of Fame have been picked for induction on Friday, September 17, it is announced by the sponsoring Piney Woods Journal. The six will join ten others who were inducted in two prior ceremonies.

The induction is scheduled at 7 p.m. at the Dodson High School auditorium on Sixth Street in Dodson.

A special feature of the evening will be a gospel music concert by the Pine Ridge Quartet, a group of Central Louisiana men with various backgrounds connected to forestry and logging, as well as wide experience as musicians.

Based in Tioga, Louisiana, the group includes Clyce Lingenfelter, Jack Smith of Montgomery, Paul Shows, a Winnfield native, and Owen Jordan. The group appeared at the Hall of Fame program in 2009, and were very well received.

R.J. Jenkins, Robeline, Louisiana
Tony and Obie Lavespere, Montgomery, Louisiana
A.T. "Bebee" Martinez, Zwolle, Louisiana
Travis Taylor, Goldonna, Louisiana
Orville "Jiggs" Sanders, Joyce, Louisiana

The public is invited to attend. There is no admission charge, although a voluntary donation will be accepted for the Pine Ridge Quartet's expenses. They will also have records of their music available for purchase.
