Uncle Earls
Hog Dog Trials set March 23-27 Information, including schedule and rules, is available at the website of Bayed Solid, hog dog enthusiasts magazine based in Hall Summit, Louisiana, published by Jimmy and Sharon Young, producers of the event. Members of the Uncle Earl's Hog Dog Trials Board are Matt Walton, representing the Winn Chamber of Commerce; Tammy Roddy, Kiwanis Club; Don Jones, Lions Club; Kathy White, Pilot Club; Johnny Lovell, Winn Western Riding Club; Randy Thomas, Winn Parish Fair board; Danny Keys, Rotary Club. The Uncle Earl's has become one of the largest community events in North Louisiana since its beginning in the mid-1990s. After internal policy disagreements were not resolved in time to go forward with the Trials last year, the event was canceled. Subsequently, the current board of directors was put together by Dr. Bill Gaddis, president of the Winn Parish Fair Association board, with representatives from a cross section of community organizations. The final agreement between the board and the producers last month assured continuity of the Trials, which attracts a major economic impact from tourism during the week-long event. |
