LFA 62nd annual meet at Baton Rouge Hilton

Louisiana Forestry Association is taking an optimistic theme for its 62nd annual convention August 25-27 in Baton Rouge. "The Upward Side of a Downward Cycle" is the theme for the meeting, set at the Capital House Hilton in Baton Rouge.

Main speakers at the Wednesday morning, August 26 general session include Sonja Oswalt, forest analyst with the USDA Forest Service Southern Forest Inventory Analysis program in Knoxville; Rich Lewis, president of Forest Resources Association; and Rocky Goodnow, of RISI North American Timber Models.

Ms. Oswalt will discuss "Perspectives on Louisiana's Forest Inventory; Mr. Lewis' topic is "The Logging Force After Recovery"; and Mr. Goodnow talks on "New Products and Markets for the Future."

The general session starts at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, following the Louisiana Logging Council breakfast, and the Louisiana Forestry Foundation breakfast, both beginning at 7 a.m.

A golf tournament on Tuesday, followed by an evening of social activities, precedes the business meetings on Wednesday. The LFA Board of Directors meet on Thursday morning.

Entertainment activities include Murray Conque, a Cajun comedian, and Jan Hargrave, an expert on non-verbal communication.
