LFA sets 69th annual meeting

The Louisiana Forestry Association, representing all parts of the State's diversified forest industry, returns to Lake Charles for its 96th annual convention August 30-September 1. The event is booked at the Golden Nugget resort, same location as 2015.

The annual convention is a combination social, professional, and commercial gathering, including individual and industrial forest landowners, foresters, loggers, manufacturers, suppliers, equipment dealers, and other individuals and firms serving the timber industry.

Opening day, Tuesday, August 30, is primarily social and recreational, featuring a golf tournament, and clay shoot. Registration for the main business session on Wednesday morning begins at 8 a.m. The general session starts at 9 a.m. with presentations by Donna Harmon, president and CEO of American Forest & Paper Association, Seth Walker, bioenergy economist with RISI international timber service, and Myles Anderson, president of american Loggers Council.

After the noon luncheon, business meetings include the LFA Board of Directors meeting, followed by meetings of the Louisiana Logging Council, and the Association of Consulting Foresters.

Highlighting the program Thursday is the 9 a.m. Broker's Breakfast, introducing new LFA officers, and a presentation by Dr. Loren Scott, economic consultant and former LSU economist.
