Stumpage price increase from last year

Stumpage prices paid for pine sawtimber during the second quarter of 2005 averaged #351.28 per thousand board feet - Doyle, according to the Quarterly Report of Forest Products from, the Louisiana Department o Agriculture and Forestry., Paul Frey State Forester.

The average rep[resents an 8.1 percent decline from the previous quarter, and a 4.5 percent increased compared to a year ago.

Prices paid for mixed hardwood sawtimber during the second quarter averaged $316.31 per MBF, which is a 7.2 percent decreased from the previous quarter and a 26.8 percent increase from one year ago.

Pulpwood stumpage prices averaged $24,29 per standard cord for pine and $20.76 per standard cord for hardwood.

By area, pine sawtimber was highest in Area 4, the Louisiana Florida Parishes area, for second quarter, at $360.06 MBF, and mixed hardwood was highest also in Area 45 at $357.64 MBF.

Lowest prices were reported in Area 3, the Central Louisiana region from the delta west to the Texas state line, at $337.77 for pine and $227 for mixed hardwood sawtimber.
