buy Martin chip mill in Winnfield A partnership of two North Louisiana logging contractors has acquired the former Martin Forest Products chip mill in Winnfield, the owners confirmed. Travis Taylor of Goldonna and Mickey Hawkins of Saline, principals in the new firm, Winn Forest Products LLC, completed the acquisition in mid October. Martin Forest Products was operated by the Martin family following the death three years ago of the principal manager Benny Martin. Taylor, owner of Taylor Logging and Chipping, said plans are to continue the chipping operation with essentially the same staff and crew. Wood procurement will be expanded, he said, with contacts available to the new owners who are longtime loggers in the region. Both Taylor and Hawkins are active in the Louisiana Logging Council, each having served as president, and have also been active in other ventures including acquisition and development of the Vanguard Synfuels plant, and the Southern Loggers Cooperative |
