Forestry, poultry top revenue producers in Piney Woods region

Forestry and poultry continued as the top money crops in the North Louisiana Piney Woods Region, and the region led the State in farm income value for the two crops in 2009, according to the annual Louisiana Report issued earlier this year by the LSU AgCenter.

Vernon, Beauregard, and Winn topped the list of forestry income. Lincoln, Sabine, and Union, each in the top tier of forestry producing parishes, led the state in poultry revenue as well.

Total farm income in Louisiana for was $4.85 billion, according to LSU AgCenter.
