5th Simsboro Tractor fest set July 5-6

The community of Simsboro, Lincoln Parish, opens the summer outdoor season in North Louisiana with its fifth annual Louisiana Antique Tractor and Equipment Festival, July 4th weekend.

The event was launched in 1997 by the Simsboro Lions Club to give the once-bustling farming community recognition in the area. It has not stopped growing, and draws antique tractor enthusiasts and other old-time farm equipment displays from across the state and the region.

Ken Slocum, festival chairman, says the fun starts on Friday night, July 5, with opening ceremonies, dedication, and the Lions Club fish fry. Several events mark the program in the cool of the evening, beginning at around 7 p.m. See program list, above.

Friday evening ends with a big fireworks display which is a favorite.

On Saturday, things happen all day, with the parade highlighting the morning at 10 a.m.
