October Treasure Forest meet

The 19th annual Alabama Landowner and Treasure Forest Conference will be held October 17-18, 2002 at Orange Beach, Alabama, the Alabama Treasure Forest Association has announced.

Registration for the conference is at Perdido Beach Resort starting at 10 a.m.

Orange Beach is located on the Alabama Gulf Coast approximately 50 miles southeast of Mobile.

Following registration, a forestry tour starts from the Perdido Beach Resort at noon October 17, followed by the annual Awards Banquet at 6:45 p.m.

Sessions on Friday, October 18 feature a variety of presenters between 8 a.m. and 11:15, including:

Longleaf Pine, with Mark Hainds, Longleaf Alliance.
Habitat Stewardship Training, with Lynn Harris, DCNR.
Integrated Resource Wildlife Management, Claude Jenkins, wildlife biologist.
Wildflower identification and management, Dr. Darryl Searcy.
Treasure Forest certification process, panel discussion.
Exotic invasive plant species, Fred Nations.

The Association luncheon is at noon.
