Dodson Mayor Loyd Vines was presented a special Community Service Award for "exceptional leadership in a crisis" for his direction of the cleanup, search and rescue operations following the May 3, 2009 tornado which hit the community.

Mayor Vines and his wife, Nedra, accepted the award during a special recognition ceremony for volunteer work during the tornado cleanup, held prior to the Loggers Hall of Fame awards in Dodson on September 17.

Certificates for volunteer community service were presented to local loggers, law enforfement, volunteer fire departments, village officials, and other volunteers.

Entertainment was provided during the program by the Pine Ridge Quartet, a group of retired loggers and one retired educator, with a program of gospel music.
