Wieger is elected as Fellow in SAF

Elected as a Fellow in the Society of American Foresters, Bill Wieger, CF, of Pineville was one of 25 so-honored in 2007 by the 15,000-member national professional Forestry organization for the award, which recognizes "long term outstanding service to forestry and to the organization."

His service accumulated across six states, and in Louisiana he was State Chair in 1989 and 2004. He is a Certified Forester and currently serves on the National Certification Review Board, along with other state responsibilities, and is a Board Member of the Louisiana Forestry Assn.

Following retirement from Roy O. Martin as Forest Manager, he has been a principal in alternate energy ventures, and locally he is the originator and long-term Chair of the weekly teenage feature "Community Commendations" which appears in the Town Talk in Alexandria.
